St. Vincent’s Electric Night at the Met: A Review
Annie Clark, known by her stage name St. Vincent, delivered a truly electrifying performance at the Met in Philadelphia during her 2024 All Born Screaming tour. With a setlist that spanned her entire discography, the concert was a testament to her undeniable talent and captivating stage presence. An all round electric night!
The night began with a palpable energy in the air as the audience eagerly awaited Clark’s arrival. When she finally took the stage, dressed in a shorts and PRADA boots, the crowd erupted in cheers. The opening notes of “Reckless” immediately set the tone for the evening, with Clark’s powerful vocals and intricate guitar work drawing the audience in.
Throughout the concert, Clark effortlessly transitioned between genres, from the rock-infused anthems of “Cheerleader” to the more experimental sounds of “Candy Darling.” Her band, featuring an array of talented musicians, provided a solid foundation for her performances, while also adding their own unique flair.
One of the most memorable moments of the night came just after Clark did a little crowd surfing, she scaled the wall of the Met’s ornate stage, climbing onto a balcony overlooking the audience. The crowd watched in awe as she she dangled from the balcony railing, before hoisting herself up onto the balcony in triumph! The moment was both exhilarating and slightly terrifying, as the singer was lifted high above the crowd, her face a mixture of excitement and exhilaration.
Beyond her musical prowess and daring stage antics, Clark also captivated the audience with her charisma and stage presence. She interacted with the crowd throughout the night, making eye contact and sharing playful banter and Philly stories. Her ability to connect with the audience on such a personal level made the concert feel truly special.
The night culminated in a rousing encore, featuring fan favorites like “Sugarboy” and “All Born Screaming.” As Clark left the stage, the audience was left wanting more, their ears ringing and their hearts pounding.
