Equipment

I pretty much just used to use this one camera at shows. Don’t want to be bogged down with something with a body, with the need of a case and lenses, and so on. So this little Sony is all I take with me. It is small, compact, and uses my phone as the viewfinder. I can also set all my options from there. My shutter speeds, my exposure setup, even my focus control. I would like a little more real zoom – but that would affect the size and that’s why this camera works. And the low-light capabilities are just what I need.  The Sony QX-100 did every thing I need and more. It is the size of a basic SLR lens, and has all the SLR functions – but without the camera body.  It uses your phone as the viewfinder and interface. Very neat, clean, and easy to use.

Sony released a new version – the Sony QX-1.  Same idea, except with interchangeable lenses.  Now I can get my extra zoom when I need it.  Or something a little bit wider.  The camera itself is smaller than the QX-100, but my lenses generally make it bigger.  Same great photo’s – just now closer to my needs.
