Perry Farrell’s Kind Heaven Orchestra – Live in Philly
The Showman of all showmen, Mr Perry Farrel, brought his troupe to Philadelphia – and gave us a treat that we did not deserve, but we did enjoy! The band looked fabulous. Perry was cool and chatty with the audience, Etty was beautiful and the backing singers made quite an impact (the only one of whom I have been able to identify is Joie Shettler of Rebel Music Entertainment). Playing songs from the new album, as well as a few classics (see the setlist below).
The band all rocked (obviously) as most of them are serious veterans. The lineup includes former Pearl Jam and Soundgarden drummer Matt Chamberlain and bassist Chris Cheney and keyboardist Matt Rohde, both of whom plays with Farrell in Jane’s Addiction and guitarist Nick Maybury, as well as Farrell’s wife, Etty, on vocals. The album will also feature appearances by Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, Dhani Harrison, the Cars’ guitarist Elliot Easton and the Foo Fighters’ drummer, Taylor Hawkins. Farrell co-produced the record with Tony Visconti (David Bowie, Morrissey).
Perry Farrell is an American singer-songwriter and musician, best known as the frontman for the alternative rock band Jane’s Addiction. Farrell created the touring festival Lollapalooza as a farewell tour for Jane’s Addiction in 1991; it has since evolved into an annual destination festival. Farrell continues to produce Lollapalooza with partners William Morris Agency and C3 Presents. Farrell has also led the alternative rock groups Porno for Pyros and Satellite Party. He is the only person who has performed at all twelve Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festivals to date, having appeared under five different names (Perry Farrell, Jane’s Addiction, DJ Peretz, Satellite Party, and with Hybrid).
